Jungle Guide: Architect of the Map and the Fight

Growing Vision & Macro and Teamfights together, plus the analyst and monitor

For Jungle, the two stats Vision & Macro (27%) and Teamfights (25%) make up more than half of OVR. Laning is the lowest at 8%, so the training order is almost the opposite of other roles. And because Vision & Macro and Mental, which decline less with age, have a high weight, it is one of the best roles for the late career.

The Stat Ratios That Make Up OVR

StatRatioMeaning
Vision & Macro27%The most important. It’s the ability to read the map.
Teamfights25%Fight design and joining timing.
Champion Pool15%The wider your Jungle champion pool, the better.
Mental13%A moderate weight.
Mechanics12%A moderate weight.
Laning8%The lowest. Put it off until last.

Training Priorities

  1. Train Vision & Macro and Teamfights alternately. Those two stats make up 52% of OVR.
  2. Champion Pool third. Its weight of 15% is the same as other roles, but using an analyst raises its efficiency a lot.
  3. Mental and Mechanics slowly with the remaining time.
  4. You can barely train Laning, as its effect on OVR is small.

Gear and Seasonal Items

  • Monitor: gear that raises Vision & Macro training efficiency (tier 1 ₩5M, +5%; tier 3 +16%). It is the most efficient gear for Jungle.
  • Keyboard: also helps Teamfight training (Laning and Teamfights). A good second investment.
  • Dedicated Analyst: Vision & Macro and Champion Pool training +30%. Jungle’s weight on those two stats adds up to 42%, so the analyst is most efficient here of all roles. It’s worth buying every growth-year season.

Perk Recommendations

Map Leader (Vision & Macro ×24) gives Vision & Macro training efficiency +12% and team strength +0.3. It’s the first perk a Jungler earns and the best one. Next, Fight Architect (Teamfights ×24) gives Teamfights +12% and team strength +0.3. Both perks raise team strength, which also helps team results. Champion Scholar (Champion Pool ×24, +12%), which grows your champion pool, is a good third pick.

Example Season Routine (ages 14–17)

  • Weeks 1–3: Vision & Macro, Teamfights, Rest
  • Weeks 4–6: Vision & Macro, Champion Pool, Rest
  • Weeks 7–9: Teamfights, Vision & Macro, Rest
  • Week 10: Mental

That’s 3 Vision & Macro, 2 Teamfights, 1 Champion Pool and 1 Mental. In seasons when you’ve hired the analyst, add more Champion Pool and Vision & Macro training.

Jungle-Specific Cautions

  • Don’t abandon Laning entirely. Even at an 8% weight, if the stat is too low you won’t reach the OVR needed for pro entry. Just train it about once a season so your lowest stat doesn’t fall 20 or more behind the others.
  • Both Teamfights and Vision & Macro must be high to be efficient. If only one of the two is high, OVR rises less than expected. Raise them alternately and keep the gap within 10.
  • Raise Champion Pool too in seasons with the analyst. Both Vision & Macro and Champion Pool training get +30%. If you hire the analyst and don’t train those two stats, you waste the seasonal item cost.

Late Career and Aging: Jungle’s Strength

In the automatic stat changes at the end of each season, Vision & Macro and Mental move only between -1 and +1 even after 27, while other stats fall by 1 to 2. Because these two stats make up 40% of a Jungler’s OVR, a Jungler’s OVR drops less late in the career than that of an ADC or Mid of the same age. The Mechanics decline from 26 only counts for 12%, so it’s no problem. A Jungler can last relatively long into the mid-30s, so protect your condition with the medical team and dorm upgrades and go for the World Championship title.
